Safari 3.5 gallon fuel tank
One area where the WR has room for improvement is fuel capacity. The stock tank holds 2.0 gallons. If you putt along you may go 140 mile to dry, but what fun is that? Blasting hard and fast will reduce MPG to 50 or less, so more gas is needed. As I type this there is only one option, a Safari tank from Agualine in Australia. It is a 3.5 gallon tank, and is expensive. It buys peace of mind when you ride in the back country though. Average riding nets 160 miles before the low fuel light comes on, at which point you have about 50 miles worth of gas left. Plenty of reserve and warning to get back to town for gas. IMS is working on 3.0 and 4.5 gallon tanks, but is not yet delivering.
Installation complete
I was not thrilled with the look of the empty blue billboard of a tank. I added decals as you see in the top picture. Unfortunately the plastic that this tank is molded from gasses off over time. The bubbles under the decal were uglier than the plain tank. The decals came off almost on their own.
